What to expect from a headshot Photoshoot
Before Your headshot Session
-
We’ll chat about what you need your headshots for — whether it’s work, castings, or personal branding.
-
We’ll pin down the vibe you want to give off — relaxed, bold, approachable, powerful, or all of the above.
-
We’ll talk styling — clothes, colours, and how to bring out your personality.
-
I’ll help you choose the package that fits your goals and budget.
-
You’ll feel prepped, confident, and ready to make a strong impression.

During The Photoshoot
-
Sessions last between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the package you’ve picked.
-
You’ll get the chance to change outfits or looks if your package includes it.
-
I’ll ask you questions and get to know you to help you feel relaxed and confident in front of the camera.
-
While hair and make-up aren’t included in my standard packages, just say the word if you want them — I can create a custom package just for you.
-
Above all, I want this to be a fun, memorable experience where you leave feeling amazing.
After Your Photoshoot
-
Once we wrap up, we’ll say our goodbyes and I’ll get stuck into editing your images with full focus.
-
Editing usually takes about 2-3 weeks — it’s a careful, detailed process to make sure every shot looks its best.
-
I’ll invite you back to the studio to view your gallery of around 15–20 carefully selected images.
-
Together, we’ll go through your favourites and help you choose the best ones to keep and use.

Hello!
I'm Hazel – a plant-obsessed, music-loving photographer who's mastered the art of capturing the perfect headshot (and keeping houseplants alive). Whether you're an actor, entrepreneur, or just need a fresh pic for your dating profile, I've got you covered. Ready to swap awkward selfies for pro shots? Let's make some magic happen!

-
Where will the photoshoot take place? The photoshoot will be held at my garden studio, which is just off the London Rd in East Grinstead, West Sussex. 28 Halsford Green, East Grinstead, West Sussex, RH19 1PB.
-
How long will it take for my online gallery to be ready?Your online gallery will be ready for viewing 2-3 weeks after our session. I always aim to have them ready as quickly as I can.
-
My dog is really nervous around new people? Will this be a problem?I understand not all dogs are bouncy and love everyone. I will take some time to get to know them a little bit before we start, and get them used to their surroundings. However, If your dog or pet is aggressive with strangers then this may be more problematic.
-
What should I bring to the session?Just you, your dog and any of his or her favourite toys. I provide the treats!
-
I have more than one dog, can we bring them all to the daft dog photoshoot?Of course! However we will need a bit of extra time so there may be an extra charge for additional pets. This all depends on the package you choose, so just drop. me a little message with your details and we can discuss.
-
My dog won't sit still for a minute! Can you still photograph them?If your dog knows a few basic commands then it would make things run a little more smoothly. However, don't worry if they don't. I will still try my best to capture beautiful photos of your dog and I have a few tricks up my sleeve to capture their adorable and funny expressions!
-
Do you photograph other animals?Yes, please! I love all animals so I would love to meet your other pets!
-
I want some photo's of me and my baby but I don't feel very confident. How can you help? You have just gone through a life changing experience and grown a tiny little person! How amazing are our bodies! Naturally like most women we have a bit of a love hate situation going on and after pregnancy It's no surprise that you are tired. Your hormones are probably still levelling out too so it’s perfectly normal to be feeling like this. I promise to encourage you and pose you in ways that I think will flatter you. I will use good angles and I can lightly retouch your images. I don’t like to heavily edit and change the way you look! I’m sure you are perfect just the way you are. But I can smooth out your complexion, remove blemishes, add a tiny bit of volume to your hair and reduce dark circles under the eyes. Whatever I do it will be very slight and look natural, and you will look beautiful! Please do let me know if you have any concerns, and we can talk through them together.
-
Do you do maternity or cake smash photography?I sure do and I also offer bundle packages so you can save some money too!
-
What if my baby won't settle? Most babies take a while to settle and it is completely normal. I have a few tricks to try and help ease them in to a nice deep sleep. The studio will be very warm and I have soothing music or white noise playing which can help.
-
What if my baby's umbilical cord is still attached? No problem, I can still take your pictures for you and we'll use a combination of careful posing and retouching where needed, to hide tummy tags from view.
-
Do you provide prints or artwork?Yes I do! Some of my packages include prints but I do have other artwork available should you wish to order any quality produts to display your beautiful images. These are priced separately from the packages. All of my artwork and prints are ordered from an award-winning printing lab for professional photographers. Not only I have chosen this lab for the great quality products they offer but for every order I place with them they will commit to planting a tree to help replace the wood and energy used in the construction of that product! I wanted to provide artwork that was not only beautiful but sustainable too! You can see examples of the artwork available on display in my studio, so you will be able to see and feel the quality for yourself.
-
How do I book? It's really easy, just drop me a message with your details and we can schedule in a call or have a chat online.
-
Does my baby need to be asleep for the photoshoot?Ideally yes, in order for me to start posing your little one we want them to fall in to a nice deep sleep. Once they are in the deep sleep stage, I can safely position them in to comfortable poses and straighten out their little fingers making for the most beautiful images.
-
When is the best time to book in my newborn photo shoot? You can schedule your photoshoot at any time, but I recommend doing so after your 20 week scan. Due to the nature of newborn shoots, I only book a limited number each month, so please get in touch as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

You can choose between Vanilla or Lemon flavors, with a delightful cream and/or jam filling. The cake will be beautifully decorated with soft buttercream icing to match the theme of your photoshoot. Happy days!
-
When should I book my cake smash photo shoot? You can book your cake smash photo shoot before your little one's birthday, on their birthday or after. It's completely up to you. If you wanted the photos to use for birthday party invitations, for example, then I'd recommend booking at least 5 weeks in advance to ensure you get the images back in time and ample time for order your invites. Ideally, 3 weeks' notice is preferred so that I can arrange the theme and cake; however, I will always try to accommodate.
-
How long does a cake smash photoshoot take?A cake smash session lasts approximately 1 hour, although my sessions are baby-led so it really does all depend on your little one.

Depending on the package you choose you will have a set amount of images included with your cake smash photoshoot. Extra images can be purchased or you can upgrade your session.
-
How do I book in?Easy, just drop me a message.
-
What should my little one wear for the cake smash session? Before we start the cake smash session, I will take a few images of your little one just to warm up. For these portraits, I recommend that your baby wears neutral colours. Try to avoid patterns, logos and characters on clothes where possible. If you would like to have a chat or send me some photos of outfit combos, I'm happy to chat in more detail with you. For the actual cake smash, I might already have an outfit available. So we can talk about this in more detail if you decide to book in with me.
-
How do I book?Just send me a message and we can have a chat about your requirements.
-
How many weeks pregnant should I be for a maternity photoshoot? The best time to schedule your maternity photoshoot is when you are 28-36 weeks pregnant. Anything after that you are likely to feel tired and uncomfortable.
-
Do I need to know how to pose, what if I feel uncomfortable with my body? You do not need to have any previous experience with posing. I will guide you through the posing process. If you have any concerns about stretch marks or any part of your body you feel uncomfortable with, please don't be afraid to let me know. I want you to feel comfortable, and produce beautiful images that you will love, so please discuss any of your concerns with me.
-
How long will it take to get my final images?I will contact you as soon as your gallery is finished. This is usually between 2-3 weeks.

-
Can you arrange a professional MUA to do my make up for my maternity photoshoot?Having your make-up applied by a professional artist really does make a difference to the final images. My top package includes this service as well as some other special bonuses making your maternity photoshoot experience even more memorable.
-

-

-
Can we buy all the digitals and do you sell framed prints?Should you wish I do have a selection of framed prints, canvas and other artwork available for you to purchase. I can show you what is available when you come to the studio so you can see the quality for yourself. Each package has a set amount of images included.
-
Can you edit out my wrinkles?I do retouch skin and blemishes in a sensitive and subtle way, so I'm not changing your face or making you look like you have been airbrushed to within an inch of your life.
-
I'm worried about my children misbehaving! Please don't, kids often play up to the camera, so I totally expect it, and certainly don't judge. I find it best to encourage natural smiles by being silly and getting on their level!
-
Can we have the RAW or unedited files?RAW, unedited images are not available for purchase, simply because they are only "half-baked" and not the finished product the way I envision it to be.
-
What should we wear?We can discuss this in more detail, but neutral or muted colours that compliment each other are always best. Please avoid, patterns, logos or characters on clothing as these date, and don't always photograph well.
-
Do you retouch the images and get rid of spots?Headshots are best edited in a very simple and non-invasive way, but I can remove spots and blemishes and reduce eye bags.
-
Can a make-up artist be arranged for the session?Yes, of course, I can arrange a hair stylist and make-up artist if requested for an additional fee.
-
How often should I update my headshots?Actors, actresses, and models should have headshots done annually. Unless you are a child model in which case updates need to be made every six months.
-
How long will it take to receive my final images?Your finished gallery will be ready to view in approximately 2-3 weeks after our session.
-
What should I wear to the session?Headshots are about your face ultimately. Think about colours that bring out your eyes and suit your skin tone. It's best to avoid patterns and logos as these can complicate a headshot so stick to a solid colour. I always recommend a muted or neutral colour for photos. Subtle textures can add depth and highlight your face.
-

TESTIMONIALS

susie
I worked with Hazel when I needed some new headshots for my business, Styled By Susie. As much as I love a selfie, I find having my photo taken, really awkward! Hazel made the session SO much fun, she had so many creative ideas and I am thrilled with the photos she has produced. I highly recommend Hazel - she has a way of making you feel comfortable, confident and having fun all at the same time.

Dr Anna Brodski
Hazel is very kind, warm, funny & professional. She really makes you feel relaxed, appreciated, beautiful & seen. Hence the photos come out with lovely facial expressions.
I love her taste and will come back when occasion arises.
Thank you, Hazel!

Lynn
I thoroughly enjoyed my photo shoot with Hazel. She made me feel relaxed and welcome, putting me at ease immediately. I think she probably has captured some of the best photos of me I've seen. I felt so relaxed and had so much fun doing the shoot that the time just seemed to whiz by! She is so professional from start to finish and in my opinion a very talented lady.
