The Bullrus and The Photographer

Hi, I'm Hazel Dean and I live in East Grinstead with my best mate Molly. She hogs my bed, snores like a pig, she's extremely stubborn and if I'm being honest, she’s a total drama queen!

If you haven't already guessed, Molly is my beautiful English Bulldog, also known as The Bullrus! Pig or Moo.

I couldn't imagine my life without her.

Random, Rude & Ridiculous

If it's random, rude or ridiculous, I’ll probably find it funny. Hands up if you have an immature sense of humor?

I love Sheila from Shameless (The UK version!)

The Labyrinth is my favorite movie of all time!

I'm an introverted, extrovert. Some days I'm true to my nickname Crazie Hazie or Hazel Nut. Other days I'm much more mellow.

I absolutely love animals (except spiders - they give me the heebie jeebies!)

Orang-utans are in my top five. I think it’s amazing how alike we are to primates, my brother Billy, more than most!

Combine my love for animals with travel and photography and I really am in my element! I've been lucky enough to see Orang-utans in Borneo, cage dived with sharks and even been lucky enough to see the big five on safari in South Africa!

I love music and creating a killer playlist for when my friends come over for a kitchen boogie (If you're coming - don't forget the spiced rum!)

You will find me snuggled up on the sofa with my old lady mint tea and Molly on my lap most nights. I'll probably be eating chocolate, then start sobbing into a cushion because I’m supposed to be "eating healthily".

My Brother

Corfu & Cameras

Once upon a time I used to live on a Greek island and learned a bit of the lingo while I was there.

This is where my hobby for photography began. I lost time walking around the village photographing flowers, bugs and people. I can totally understand why Gerald Durrell fell in love with Corfu.

Still there is no place like home and East Grinstead was calling.

Family & Photography

Family is by far the most important thing to me! Oh, did I mention my dog? No matter what, they are always there. In fact I wouldn't have my lovely little photography studio if it wasn't for my family!

So yeah, family & photography is where it's at for me. Maybe that's why I like to photograph other peoples families so much.

Who is Hazel Dean Photography?

Having your photograph taken is a really personal thing. In order to get great pictures that you’re going to love, you want to feel confident and comfortable in front of the camera. That's allot of pressure and how do you know how you are going to feel in front of me, if we've never met? How will your children feel about being posed in front of the camera? Do you feel comfortable with me handling your precious newborn baby? This might be especially true if you have never had professional photos taken before - but let me put your mind at ease.

First of all, I don't bite! If you have kids that need coaxing out their shell you might find me on my hands and knees snorting like a pig and making a complete twit of myself - but I definitely don't bite. It genuinely makes me happy to see other people happy. I want you to feel like your popping round ya mates for a cuppa. I want your children to feel free to be themselves! Kids always say inappropriate things and speak their mind which if I’m honest is what I absolutely love about them!Just be yourselves and I will be me and do what I do best. I've been in your shoes; I've been the model and honestly, I understand the importance of having a photographer who knows what they are doing. A photographer who will give you direction and encouragement throughout the session. I'm not a cowboy (I did once go through a phase of wearing tan cowboy boots in my early 20's but we won't talk about that). I have had professional training in Newborn Photography and I will treat your little ones with the up most care and kindness.
