I create beautiful photographs of your family

capturing personality and emotion.

Family Portrait Photography

Life is one big balancing act, with school runs and after school clubs, cooking, working, cleaning, it's not easy. But it's worth it, because the people we call family make it so... I know I would be absolutely lost without mine. I think as you get a little older you realise how quickly time just flies by, and how things can change so much in the blink of an eye.

I guess that's why family photography means so much to me, because in a way you're freezing time for just a second. Capturing that look between two bothers, or a laugh between grandma and granddaughter. Photographs to me, are so important because they are your family's memories. It's so much more than just taking a snap shot for me. I want to see who you are, and capture your personality. The bond between father and son and those in-between moments where you are just being your authentic selves.

I am a family photographer in West Sussex, and I would love to see you in my little garden studio, which is situated just off the main London Rd in East Grinstead. We're right on the borders of Surrey, Kent and East Sussex, so we aren't too far from Crawley, Redhill, Tunbridge Wells or Haywards Heath.

Hello You

They say never work with children or animals, so call me Crazy Hazy because I love working with both! I love music, taking photos (obviously) and traveling! If you want to read a little bit more about me and see if I'm your kind of family photographer, just click on the button below.

About
What To Expect

What to expect from a Family Photography Session

Before The Shoot

Before you come along to your family photoshoot at my East Grinstead studio, we will have a little chat about what it is you are looking for. Did you want a simple white back drop, or a more fine art styled family portrait?

We will discuss any particular ideas you might have, colour schemes, and outfit choices.

If you have any concerns, or are worried about posing or how you will look in the images, please let me know. I will do all I can to make you feel comfortable because I want you to love the photos!

During The Shoot

When you arrive at the studio, the first thing I'll do is stick the kettle on. If you have children then it's always nice to give them a little time to settle in to the studio.

If kids are a little shy, I will spend some time on their level. So please don't judge me if you find me making all sorts or strange animal noises and being silly. It's really important to me that everyone is happy and comfortable.

Once everyone is ready, I will begin posing you, and taking photos of your family. I will be asking all sorts of questions, and trying to capture those in-between moments where you are goofing around, laughing or just remembering a sweet story that you are telling me about.

After The Shoot

After your family photography session,I will go and start hand editing your images.

You will hear from me within two to three weeks to arrange a gallery viewing of your images. This is where I will invite you back to the studio to show you your finished family portraits.

You will then choose which images you like. When you have decided you can then purchase the digital image package that best suits your requirements.

If it is easier, I do also offer online gallery viewings. I know how busy it can be sometimes.

I do also provide prints and have some beautiful artwork available to really showcase your photographs in your home. You can see the quality of the artwork when you come to the studio.

FAQs

FAQs about Family Photoshoots

  • Where will the photoshoot take place?
The photoshoot will be held at my garden studio, which is just off the London Rd in East Grinstead, West Sussex. 28 Halsford Green, East Grinstead, West Sussex, RH19 1PB.
  • How long will it take for my online gallery to be ready?
Your online gallery will be ready for viewing 2-3 weeks after our session. I always aim to have them ready as quickly as I can.
  • My dog is really nervous around new people? Will this be a problem?
I understand not all dogs are bouncy and love everyone. I will take some time to get to know them a little bit before we start, and get them used to their surroundings. However, If your dog or pet is aggressive with strangers then this may be more problematic.
  • What should I bring to the session?
Just you, your dog and any of his or her favourite treats or maybe a toy.
  • I have 3 dogs, can we photograph them all together?
Of course, we can. If for any reason we can't get the perfect pic of them all sitting together nicely, I will be able to photoshop them in one photograph together.
  • My dog won't sit still for a minute! Can you still photograph them?
If your dog knows a few basic commands then it would make things run a little more smoothly. However, don't worry if they don't. I will still try my best to capture beautiful photos and engage your dog's attention.
  • Do you photograph other animals?
Yes, please! I love all animals so I would love to meet your other pets!
  • I want some photo's of me and my baby but I don't feel very confident. How can you help?
You have just gone through a life changing experience and grown a tiny little person! How amazing are our bodies! Naturally like most women we have a bit of a love hate situation going on and after pregnancy It's no surprise that you are tired. Your hormones are probably still levelling out too so it’s perfectly normal to be feeling like this. I promise to encourage you and pose you in ways that I think will flatter you. I will use good angles and I can lightly retouch your images. I don’t like to heavily edit and change the way you look! I’m sure you are perfect just the way you are. But I can smooth out your complexion, remove blemishes, add a tiny bit of volume to your hair and reduce dark circles under the eyes. Whatever I do it will be very slight and look natural, and you will look beautiful! Please do let me know if you have any concerns, and we can talk through them together.
  • Do you do maternity or cake smash photography?
I sure do! In fact the premium newborn image package includes a 50% discount towards your little ones first birthday cake smash and splash session. Woohoo!
  • What if my baby won't settle?
Most babies take a while to settle and it is completely normal. I have a few tricks to try and help ease them in to a nice deep sleep. The studio will be very warm and I have soothing music or white noise playing which can help.
  • What if my baby's umbilical cord is still attached?
No problem, I can still take your pictures for you and we'll use a combination of careful posing and retouching where needed, to hide tummy tags from view.
  • Do you provide prints or artwork?
Yes I do! These can be ordered separately from the image packages, should you wish. All of my artwork and prints are ordered from an award-winning printing lab for professional photographers. Not only I have chosen this lab for the great quality products they offer but for every order I place with them they will commit to planting a tree to help replace the wood and energy used in the construction of that product! I wanted to provide artwork that was not only beautiful but sustainable too! You can see examples of the artwork available on display in my studio, so you will be able to see and feel the quality for yourself.
  • How do I book?
It's really easy, just drop me a message with your details and we can schedule in a call or have a chat online.
  • Does my baby need to be asleep for the photoshoot?
Ideally yes, in order for me to start posing your little one we want them to fall in to a nice deep sleep. Once they are in the deep sleep stage, I can safely position them in to comfortable poses and straighten out their little fingers making for the most beautiful images.
  • When is the best time to book in my newborn photo shoot?
You can schedule your photoshoot at any time, but I recommend doing so after your 20 week scan. Due to the nature of newborn shoots, I only book a limited number each month, so please get in touch as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
  • How long will it take to get our final pictures, and can I buy the digitals?
I will invite you back to the studio to view your images within 2-3 weeks. This is where you can decide which images you would like to purchase. I have three digital image packages available to choose from, and also offer artwork to beautifully display your photographs.
  • Where is your studio?
My newborn studio is located in East Grinstead, which is on the border of Surrey & West Sussex. Within easy reach of Brighton, Bromley, Croydon, Crawley, Crowborough, Edenbridge, Forest Row, Haywards Heath, Horley, Horsham, Oxted, Redhill, Reigate, and Maidstone. The address is: 28 Halsford Green, East Grinstead, West Sussex, RH19 1PB.
  • When is the best time to photograph my newborn baby?
The best time to photograph your baby is when they are between 5 and 14 days old (a maximum of 21 days). This is when your little one is at their most sleepy and supple allowing for the most safe, natural and snuggly poses
  • Will you share images of my baby?
You will be asked to sign a model release form when you come to the studio. I will only share your images on my website or social media for marketing purposes with your express permission.

  • Do you provide the cake?
Yes, I do provide the cake! This is included as part of the session fee. Please let me know at the time of booking if your little one has any allergies that the cake maker needs to know about.
  • When should I book my cake smash photo shoot?
You can book your cake smash photo shoot before your little one's birthday, on their birthday or after. It's completely up to you. If you wanted the photos to use for birthday party invitations, for example, then I'd recommend booking 6 weeks in advance to ensure you get the images in time. Ideally, 3 weeks' notice is preferred so that I can arrange the theme and cake; however, I will always try to accommodate.
  • How long does a cake smash photoshoot take?
A cake smash session lasts approximately two hours, although my sessions are baby-led so it really does all depend on your little one.
  • Where will the cake smash photoshoot be held?
The photoshoot will take place in my garden studio. 28 Halsford Green, East Grinstead, West Sussex, RH19 1PB. Tel: 07780 614 687
  • Do you offer prints and wall art?
Yes, I have a beautiful selection of wall art on display in the studio so when you come along you will be able to see and feel the quality for yourself.
  • How long will it take to see the final images?
After our session, I will hand edit your gallery. This usually takes 2-3 weeks. Once completed I will get in touch to arrange a gallery viewing in my studio. When you come along to the studio we will have a cuppa, and watch your gallery via a slideshow. You can then decide which image package best suits you. I will upload the images into an online gallery for you to download or I can airdrop them then and there.
  • How do I book in?
Easy, just drop me a message.
  • What should my little one wear for the cake smash session?
Before we start the cake smash session, I will take a few images of your little one just to warm up. For these portraits, I recommend that your baby wears neutral colours. Try to avoid patterns, logos and characters on clothes where possible. If you would like to have a chat or send me some photos of outfit combos, I'm happy to chat in more detail with you. For the actual cake smash, I might already have an outfit available. So we can talk about this in more detail if you decide to book in with me.
  • How do I book?
Just send me a message and we can have a chat about your requirements.
  • How many weeks pregnant should I be for a maternity photoshoot?
The best time to schedule your maternity photoshoot is when you are 28-36 weeks pregnant. Anything after that you are likely to feel tired and uncomfortable.
  • Do I need to know how to pose, what if I feel uncomfortable with my body?
You do not need to have any previous experience with posing. I will guide you through the posing process. If you have any concerns about stretch marks or any part of your body you feel uncomfortable with, please don't be afraid to let me know. I want you to feel comfortable, and produce beautiful images that you will love, so please discuss any of your concerns with me.
  • How long will it take to get my final images?
Approximately 2-3 weeks after our session, I will invite you back to the studio to view your finished gallery. You will then be able to choose which images you like, and what digital image package best suits you. You might want to order some beautiful artwork which I also have available. You will be able to see and feel the quality of the products when you come to the studio.
  • Can I include my family in any of the images?
Yes definitely! Please bring along your partner and / or children and we can capture some beautiful family-orientated images. We can have a chat about styling and what they should wear before the session.
  • Why invest in the Elegance Package and have my hair & make-up done?
Having your hair and make-up applied by a professional artist really does make a difference to the final images. Not only that, but isn't it nice to treat yourself and feel pampered for a couple of hours. If the elegance package isn't in your budget, the classic package may be more suited to you. Either way, I will produce images that you will look beautiful in.
  • Do you provide a dress?
I have a small and beautiful selection of maternity dresses and materials ideal for creating some gorgeous images! Unless of course you are feeling brave and want me to photograph your amazing body and bump in a very tasteful and elegant way.
  • I'm thinking of ordering a shoot for my friend as a baby shower gift, do you sell vouchers?
Yes! I do have gift vouchers that I can post out to you. A photoshoot makes a lovely gift; most people forget what you brought them, but when you buy memories you can't go wrong!
  • Do you shoot family portraits on location?
Yes if it is local, please just get in touch and we can discuss what it is you are looking for.
  • Can we buy all the digitals and do you sell framed prints?
Yes, once you have seen your images you can decide on which digital image package you would like to purchase. Should you wish I do have a selection of framed prints, canvas and other artwork available for you to purchase. I can show you what is available when you come to the studio so you can see the quality for yourself.
  • Can you edit out my wrinkles?
Whilst the emotion and connection I like to capture in family photographs is very natural and real, I know that most women would prefer not to see every pore and wrinkle on their face. I do retouch skin and blemishes in a sensitive and subtle way, so I'm not changing your face or making you look like you have been airbrushed to within an inch of your life.
  • I'm worried about my children misbehaving!
Please don't, kids often play up to the camera, so I totally expect it, and certainly don't judge. I find it best to encourage natural smiles by being silly, playing with your children and tickling them.
  • Can we have the RAW or unedited files?
I'm afraid not. I take pride in my work and will only provide you with beautifully edited, finished photographs. RAW, unedited images are not available for purchase, simply because they are only "half-baked" and not the finished product the way I envision it to be. Only I know how the images are designed to look - and my editing process is as much a part of my artistic skill as the way I take the photograph.
  • What should we wear?
We can discuss this in more detail, but neutral or muted colours that compliment each other are always best. Please avoid, patterns, logos or characters on clothing as these date, and don't always photograph well.
  • Do you retouch the images and get rid of spots?
Headshots are best edited in a very simple and non-invasive way, but I can remove spots and blemishes and reduce eye bags.
  • Can a make-up artist be arranged for the session?
Yes, of course, I can arrange a hair stylist and make-up artist if requested for an additional fee.
  • How often should I update my headshots?
Actors, actresses, and those in the performing arts should have headshots done annually. Unless you are a child model in which case updates need to be made every six months. For corporate environments, photos can be scheduled whenever a new employee comes on board. Those whose appearance has changed significantly should have updated photos taken.
  • How long will it take to receive my final images?
Your finished proof gallery will be ready to view in approximately 1-3 weeks after our session. I will always try my best to accommodate dead lines.
  • What should I wear to the session?
Headshots are about your face ultimately. Think about colours that bring out your eyes and suit your skin tone. It's best to avoid patterns and logos as these can complicate a headshot so stick to a solid colour. I always recommend a muted or neutral colour for photos. Subtle textures can add depth and highlight your face.
  • Can I insert an image, video, or gif in my FAQ?
Yes. To add media follow these steps: 1. Enter the app’s Settings 2. Click on the “Manage FAQs” button 3. Select the question you would like to add media to 4. When editing your answer click on the camera, video, or GIF icon 5. Add media from your library.
  • How do I add a new question & answer?
To add a new FAQ follow these steps: 1. Click “Manage FAQs” button 2. From your site’s dashboard you can add, edit and manage all your questions and answers 3. Each question and answer should be added to a category 4. Save and publish.
  • How do I edit or remove the “FAQ” title?
You can edit the title from the Settings tab in the app. If you don’t want to display the title, simply disable the Title under “Info to Display”.
