maternity Photography in East Grinstead, West Sussex

Capturing this stage, before everything changes

No one really tells you how you’re going to feel.

Especially the first time.

There’s a lot of unknowns, how your body will change, what it’ll feel like, what life’s going to look like when baby’s here.

It can feel a bit overwhelming at times… but it’s also pretty incredible what your body’s doing.

That’s why it’s worth taking a moment to capture it.

My sessions are relaxed and guided. I’ll help you with the posing so you’re not stood there wondering what to do, and it’ll never feel stiff or over the top.

Think of it like coming in for a cuppa… with the added bonus of walking away with photos you’ll actually love.

My studio’s based in East Grinstead, West Sussex, and I’ll take care of everything so it feels easy from the moment you walk in.

before they arrive

Capturing the story that starts in all

A lot of people nearly don’t book a maternity session.

Sometimes it’s because they’re not feeling their best, or the pregnancy hasn’t been easy.

But the ones who do it anyway almost always say the same thing afterwards, they’re so glad they did.

Because when you pair these photos with your newborn ones, it tells the full story, what life looked like before they arrived, and everything that came after.

What this actually looks like

Guided, not stiff, simple, not over the top

We’ll spend about an hour in the studio, capturing beautiful, relaxed images of you and your bump.

Partners and children are always welcome, and if your dog is part of the family like mine is, they’re welcome too.

These sessions are about capturing your story, the before and everything that’s about to change.

I’ll guide you through everything so you never feel unsure of what to do. It’s calm, unhurried, and we’ll probably end up having a good natter and a cup of tea along the way.

I have a selection of beautiful dresses you’re welcome to use, but I always recommend bringing something you feel comfortable in too. Sometimes the simplest outfits create the most natural, meaningful images.

How you feel during the session makes all the difference when you look back at your photos.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR maternity photo shoot

Simple, guided, and more relaxed than you think

Before Your Session

We’ll book your session for when you’re around 28–36 weeks, when your bump is showing nicely but you’re still comfortable enough to enjoy it.

We can discuss styling beforehand, and you’re very welcome to wear one of my dresses, but I always recommend bringing something of your own too.

Nothing complicated, just simple outfits that you feel good in.

During Your Session

Sessions last up to an hour and are calm and fully guided.

I’ll help you with positioning the whole way through so you’re never stood there wondering what to do.

We keep it simple, a few different setups, small adjustments, nothing over the top.

There’s plenty of time to ease into it, so you don’t feel rushed or overwhelmed.

After Your Session

You’ll come back to the studio to see your photos around 2–3 weeks after your session.

I’ll talk you through the digital packages, and we’ll go over the wall art options too.

No pressure, just pick the images you love the most.

Then you leave with photos that actually mean something to you.

You don’t have to feel confident

You just have to show up

Most people don’t walk in feeling their best.

That’s completely normal.

I’ll guide you through everything so you feel comfortable and looked after, nothing forced, nothing over the top.

You don’t need to know what you’re doing.

That’s my job.

KIND WORDS

Hazel made our whole photoshoot experience really enjoyable. The setting was so comfortable and we absolutely love the results from our maternity shoot. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Hazel.

Kirsty, Burgess Hill

I went for a maternity shoot a few weeks back and had a delightful experience with Hazel. She is one of a kind and has mastered her craft. I appreciate her patience and her creative direction. I had a really good time and very pleased with the photos she captured and the finished product.

hi i'm hazel

Maternity photographer based in East Grinstead, West Sussex

I’ve been photographing families for years now, and I know how it feels to be on the other side of the camera.

Most people don’t walk in feeling confident, especially during pregnancy, and that’s okay.

That’s why I keep everything simple, guided, and relaxed. You don’t need to know what you’re doing or feel “ready”… you just need to turn up.

Outside of the studio, I’m usually with my bulldog Molly, surrounded by plants I’m trying to keep alive, or cooking with the music on.

Real is rare, and I love people who show up as themselves, just as I will for you.
